Richard Sumner Frames has been a downtown Palo Alto institution since 1972 — one of the oldest businesses in the city, and the only remaining custom picture framing shop in the area. For over five decades, we have built a reputation for museum-quality craftsmanship, personalized design, and an eye for exceptional art.

Whether you're looking for a local frame store or need expert art framing and photo framing, we offer a full range of custom framing services, including custom picture framing, museum-quality conservation framing, canvas stretching and floater frames, shadow box framing, and custom framed mirrors — all completed on-site in our Palo Alto studio.

Beyond framing, our shop is a destination in its own right. We hand-select artwork, artifacts, and home decor from Turkey, Thailand, Morocco, India, and beyond — each piece chosen because it's something we'd proudly display in our own home.

    Mahmut Keskekci

    OWNER & DESIGNER

    After immigrating from Turkey over 40 years ago, Mahmut met Richard Sumner and learned that his real passion lies in art and framing—not in Electrical Engineering as his degree would suggest. He eventually purchased the business, and is now the primary designer at Richard Sumner Frames. He is deeply passionate about art and is always eager to share his design ideas with his customers.

    Jaime Munoz

    FRAMER

    Jaime has been with Richard Sumner Frames for over 20 years. During his tenure, he has not only honed his craft in custom framing, but he is also responsible for managing all installations for the business. He has installed custom frames in San Francisco and all over the Bay Area including Atherton, Menlo Park, and Palo Alto.
